What another lovely reflection to start my Wednesday morning. So much to be thankful for for sure. I aspire to be an early morning person like you someday lol but I would agree with you. That’s why I love the evening and the night. So look forward to your letter each morning as I drink my coffee on my porch and also reflect on so many things to be thankful for. Sending you love ❤️
I enjoyed the part where you frantically tried to keep up with the cashier at the scanning part of the transaction
I experienced the same thing in the a Netherlands and as the divider closed on my side and opened on the next customers side I felt like crying and just leaving
But that would have meant giving up my money and my groceries. I learned to pack my cart in a more organized manner in the future so my bags always got the heavy items first
It wasn’t clear to me who did all the cooking for the Sunday lunches. I assume it isn’t the men, most of the time. Or is it a shared responsibility over there?
The family get-togethers sound lovely. Of course in the states, many families resist getting together for any reason because of long-held grudges and the like.
It all reminded me of Emmi’s semi-weekly dinners for friends and family. No special occasion, just another chance to be together, which Emmi lives for.
I think that in many French families the cooking still often falls to the women but my father-in-law is a regular cook at their house, so I guess it just depends.
A big difference I see in family gatherings here are that families are generally less spread out than in the States so it’s easier for them to get together regularly.
I think Emmi would have liked to have been a French grandma in another life. ❤️
Enjoyed it immensely. Thanks
Thanks for reading, Aunt Jean. I know my cousins have some experience with the French system as well.

Oh the things Americans take for granted
I always look forward to Wednesdays and your weekly news from and about France.
